RMM deployment readiness checklist

A vendor-neutral worksheet for making an RMM rollout owned, measurable, and reversible. The CSV covers governance, endpoint inventory, preparation, pilot checks, wave deployment, verification, and closeout—without requiring an account or email address.

Seven deployment phases

Governance · 4 controlsName the decision owner, approved scope, success criteria, stop conditions, and maintenance windows.
Inventory · 4 controlsReconcile authoritative endpoints, stale records, critical workloads, operating systems, zones, and ownership.
Preparation · 6 controlsConfirm prerequisites, recovery paths, package integrity, communications, exclusions, and support readiness.
Pilot · 7 controlsValidate identity, check-in, inventory, alerts, automation, patch policy, remote support, and uninstall behavior.
Wave rollout · 4 controlsSet wave boundaries, reconcile every result, record exceptions, and require explicit go/no-go decisions.
Verification and closeout · 8 controlsConfirm coverage, health, policy state, access, documentation, exception ownership, evidence, and final approval.

How to use it

  1. Import the CSV into a spreadsheet, ticket, or change-management record.
  2. Replace generic owners, dates, and rollback triggers with named people and measurable thresholds.
  3. Complete the pilot controls before approving a wider wave.
  4. Reconcile successful, failed, excluded, offline, and unknown endpoints after every wave.
  5. Keep exceptions open until each has an owner, due date, evidence, and disposition.

The checklist is an operational planning aid. It does not replace your organization’s security, backup, change-control, or incident-response requirements.

Field reference

Each row includes a phase, stable control ID, control, owner, status, evidence, exception owner, due date, rollback trigger, and notes. The Data Package descriptor publishes the field schema, byte count, and SHA-256 hash for automated validation.
